With the success that 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is getting with just the hard-top model revealed and the love that people has shown for Beetle Volkswagen has already started working on the 2013 Beetle convertible. These are the latest spy shots of 2013 Beetle Convertible.
The spy shots of the 2013 Beetle convertible reveal that the Cabriolet will follow in the footprints of the 2012 Beetle coupe with an elongated, less domed roofline than the outgoing model. The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible will once again boast a mechanized folding soft-top and a completely flat waistline. The side windows also imitate the sliced down glass of the coupe. However on the whole look is manlier than before.
The entry-level models will be powered by a 170 horsepower version of the 2.5-liter five, while more up-level Beetle Cabriolets will be available with either a 200 horsepower 2.0-liter turbo four or a 140 horsepower 2.0-liter TDI turbo-diesel. The turbocharged gas engine will also come with a limited slip front differential. As far as fuel economy is considered it might take a petite hit compared to the hardtop given the additional weight necessary for the convertible configuration.
The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle is expected to be launched sometime around next year in an early auto show with the sales starting somewhere around summer time. The costing should be faintly privileged than the hard-top, which starts from $19,765.
