Volkswagen has an all-new Polo up its sleeve and it has been spotted testing in Death Valley in the USA. According to Cars.co.za, the new Polo is set to lose its camo wrap in showrooms soon after its official reveal in 2017. The GTI however, is destined for 2018.

As we can see on the pictures, the pre-production test car rides on classic GTI wheels. Cars.co.za says that it’s also fitted with chrome tailpipes and that the photographers noticed that the new Polo will be longer and wider than the current model, we can expect it to be lighter as well.

The new Polo is likely to retain its current range of engines, as will the GTI variant with its 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Underpinning the new Polo will be Volkswagen’s MQB platform which is also used in its bigger brother, the Golf.
