DIY Tips for Installing Rear Brake Pads on a VW Passat
In the first segment, we covered step by step how you should go about removing the rear brake pads on your VW Passat in order to change the brake pads. Here is what you now have to do to install the new Volkswagen Passat brake pads to ensure that everything works correctly and that your braking system is smooth.
Once you have gone through the 6 steps to remove the brake pads ending where the caliper has been rotated downwards, you can get to the pads. There are also 7 steps you need to follow.
- First is to insert the new brake pads into the caliper by turning the caliper pin clockwise.
- You then spin the caliper back into place and apply some thread locking compound to the bolt which you then tighten to 271 inch lb.
- Reattach the parking brake cable.
- Replace the wheel tire assembly and lower your car.
- Pump the brake pedal before moving it to seat the brake pads.
- Replace the brake fluid you removed with new fluid.
- To ensure that everything works perfectly, only make gentle stops for the first week of driving to season the brakes.
