DIY Tips for Removing Rear Brake Pads on a VW Passat
With brake pads, many people cannot see the sense in paying someone else a lot of money to do this job when you can easily do it yourself. All you need to do is purchase the rear brake pads for your VW Passat (which we will be using for this DIY piece), and follow some simple instructions. Here is how you will go about removing the brake pads from the Volkswagen.
- The first thing you have to do is remove the old brake pads using 6 simple steps. The first thing you have to do is make sure your car is secure, setting blocks in front of the front tires and parking the car on a level area
- The next thing you want to do is locate the master cylinder under the hood, which will allow you to empty the brake fluid until there is less than half.
- The third step is to raise the rear end of your car with a jack and remove the tires.
- Then you have to remove the parking brake cable (make sure that you have left your car in gear) and with pliers remove the clip.
- Step 5 is to remove the upper mounting bolt from the caliper with a socket wrench making sure that the upper guide pin doesn’t move.
- The last step is to rotate the caliper downwards so that you can get to the inner and outer brake pads.
