On today’s Reader’s Ride we feature Jay Wan, a VW enthusiast from Sheffield in the UK, and his panda-style VW Polo 6 R-Line.
Jay discovered his love for VWs when his dad got an Mk4 Golf TDI, but was totally bought in and the love quickly became an obsession when his brother got a Polo 6R.
Jay has a history of modified cars and is part of several owners’ clubs, but he’s mostly into the Polo 6R/6C Owner’s Club. The VW enthusiast also runs his own Polo R-Line UK group on Facebook.
And now, the whip! Jay drives a VW Polo 6 1.2 TSI R-Line. Being an R-Line, the Polo already comes stock with a sporty bodykit and performance that makes it stand out from the normal Polo, but it clearly wasn’t enough for a petrolhead like Jay as he has spoiled her with a wealth of cosmetics, accessories, and performance upgrades as well.
Apart from the standard R-Line bodykit, Jay’s Polo carries a Partial wrapped front bumper and GTI upper and lower grille which give it a more aggressive front end. Couple that with VW Projector-style headlights with HID Kit and tinted yellow fog lights just to add that cherry on top.
The car also has Plastidip wing mirror covers, smoked taillights, and shark fin aerial with working antenna. Some badges on the boot lid were deleted to give the rear end a more thuggish look.
The interior is graced with an upgraded head unit with Bluetooth connection.
Jay also equipped his Polo with a set of 16-inch OZ MSW Classic 85 rims wrapped in Toyo T1-R 205-section rubbers. Tyre walls are painted and the calipers are painted in yellow.
The suspension is also tweaked: it has AP adjustable coilovers with aftermarket top mounts and removed rear adjusters.
The car is an absolute looker, but Jay also saw importance in engine and exhaust mods as well. Performance modifications include a Universal induction kit, custom catback exhaust system, custom remap by Big Fish Tuning (big ups to John), and Jay says it will soon have an HKS Blow off valve custom fitted.
Jay’s other possible future plans are an air ride, an intercooler setup, and a hybrid turbo.
SPECIAL THANKS TO THE POLO 6R/6C OWNER’S CLUB UK AND POLO R-LINE UK FOR SHOWING LOVE FOR THE CAR.
