German carmaker Volkswagen has opened order bookings for its latest Golf SV, which is equipped with all the advanced technology of the Golf hatchback range. However, the new model is larger and has a more practical body.
Besides with a length of 4,338 mm, the Golf SV is 134mm longer than the Golf Plus, the model which the SV is replacing. It also comes with a longer wheelbase as compared to the Golf Plus and so presents generous interior space. The model also provides enough luggage capacity at 500 litres.
As far as the engine line-up for Ireland is concerned, the new model comes with a 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine producing 85hp and 110hp as well as a 1.6-litre diesel engine with 90hp and 110hp. However, the top of range is comprised of a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 150hp.
The best part is that all the engines of the new model comply with the latest EU6 emissions regulations. Customers have the option to pick either any of the 5- and 6-speed manual gearboxes or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The top-selling engine option of the new Golf SV is expected to be the 1.6-litre TDI with 110hp. This engine has emissions of just 101g/km, which places it in Motor Tax Band A3 with €190 as the annual motor tax.
Among other features, the model is equipped with a 5.8 inch touchscreen radio, cruise control, a black radiator grille, Bluetooth connectivity and front comfort seat.
