Rebuilding Porsche from a VW Beetle – A bride’s unique dream
A bride to be from her childhood had the dream of being taken to her wedding in a classic Porsche. The dream is a unique one. Many of us see dreams like this. But achieving this dream in her case is a unique one. Megan Ashton, 26 year old bride had always dreamt from her childhood that she would be taken to her wedding in a Porsche. But instead of buying or hiring a classic Porsche she chose to rejuvenate a wrecked Volkswagen Beetle.
Megan Ashton bought the Volkswagen Beetle shatter for just £200 before stripping it down to the carcass and scrupulously reconstructing it practically from square one. She spent six long years and £4000 for renovating the 40-year-old VW into a Porsche 356 – the company’s first production model. The rejuvenated model now features a white leather interior with mahogany details, a 356 body shell and an authentic steering wheel and speedometer. It also possesses an extraordinary top speed of over 100mph. After renovation the car is valued at £25,000.
Megan Ashton arrives accompanied by her dad Viv in her self-built Porsche replica on her wedding day at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy Memorial Chapel and then after the nuptial leaves with her new husband Rob in the same car.
