VW: Unveiling a new 1-liter concept car at Qatar Motor Show

Information is not adequate, but AutoBild says the car characteristic would consist of two cylinder diesel engine and an electric motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The overall postulate seems to reflex ion the L1 concept, which debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, but the plug-in crossbred engineering would undoubtedly increase fuel efficiency beyond the already awful 1.2 L/100 km (196 mpg US).

The conception is slated to be unveiled subsequent this month and rumors inform it could go into creation in 2013

Volkswagen Hiring 50,000 Worldwide

According to senior Volkswagen official, Horst Neumann, VW will be hiring over 50,000 people worldwide to boost their workforce to 450,000. This comes in light of recent sales successes in China and improvements in the US market, where Volkswagen previously garnered little interest. Of the new jobs, 5000 or 6000 will be created in Germany by the year 2015.

“We have around 400,000 workers around the world today. With pursued growth in many markets, we could reach a staff of 450,000 in the medium term,” said Neumann

“In addition, we will have to replace 60,000 workers in the next five years,” he said as VW negotiates a major work contract with German unions.

The temporary part time workers have been terminated to ensure that the 50,000 employees are hired as permanent staff. Due to high demand in the auto market VW have also decided to shorten their 2010 Christmas holidays to maintain production.

Lego VWs. Yup, VW for all ages!

I’m pretty sure every single one of us has had Lego at one point in our lives. Strangely enough the little plastic building bricks have always been rather pricey, so many of the kids in my neighbourhood only ever got hold of basic little sets, only the larnies has the big scenes with all the props. If you were a bad-ass little tyke, you could have collected the small kits from your mates (some call this stealing, I used to call it borrowing on a non-return basis) and built up an empire. That’s where a problem came in though. I ended up with quite a few Lego sets but I had noting I could really build besides a small house, a garage and some make-believe supercars in there (ok, I was from Kempton Park, my supercars were 3.0 Ford Cortinas with Interceptor carbs, but that’s a long, long time ago!).

After seeing all these pics, I wish I’d kept my Lego from back then, but I really did need something to shoot with my catty… Take a look at these Lego creations – can you do any better?

I have NO artistic talent when it comes to drawing things. I’ve tried to draw many, many times over the years. I have a love for cars and so I’ve always wanted to draw cars but there’s a problem between what I see in my head and the communication from my brain to my hands to actually get the image onto the paper. With that being the case, my coolest and most awesome work of art ever looks like a rough sketch done by a 5-year old during his time out in creche. Luckily the planet is full of arty types, and it seems many like the VW brand too.

These are just a few we’ve come across on the interwebz, take a look and let us know what you think. If you’re artistically inclined, send us your drawings and when we have a bunch of them together you’ll see the post go up.

I guess seeing as the brand has been around forever, it’s ingrained in people’s minds. As a kid when we were starting to put pen to paper we’d sit and think of stuff to draw and for many of us we’d draw cars. It makes sense that we’d draw what we see most often, VWs. Some of us grow up and get all serious with life, others keep that arty streak and if the VW subject is still prefererred, things start to get pretty damn weird. Take a look at this stuff, it ranges from teeny stuff that can fit on the mantlepiece or in your pocket to life sized VW cars that have been tweaked, twisted and made into to lifesize art, sometimes fully functional too.

Most times though, and I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s all about how the creations makes you feel when you see them. Personally, I just shake my head and laugh. Some of it’s cool, some is odd and some is pretty pointless, but hey, at least the common theme is Volkswagen!

Volkswagen will present at the Auto Show in Detroit a new concept: BlueSport.
The new VW BlueSport Concept is a roadster with two seats and has a 2.0 TDI engine that develops 180hp and 350Nm. Also, the concept comes with a mid-mounted engine that drives the rear wheels which could make for an interesting car to play with as long as the bum isn’t tail happy. It’s also got that awesome 6-speed DSG transmission that we all love.

As usual with a drop top, it’s heavy weighing in at around 1200kg but it still gets to 100km/h in 6.6-seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 226km/h. Sort of a cross between an Audi TT and something a bit manlier, this car may just appeal to a bigger market. I know I’d drive one!

• MR Car Design redesigned the Scirocco by adding their best bits. The power rises to 370hp and 519Nm. The exhaust system of the car was also back pressure optimized, manually welded and is made of high grade steel. The team also enhanced the brake system.

• Using a gull wing door plates from LSD, a sportier and edgier Scirocco was created. This is Type 13 and is a real head turner. The doors are equipped with the Guided Roller System that provides additional safety, as well as precision when opening and closing the door. The doors also fulfill the quality standards of the German Technological Board.

• Another Volkswagen tuning wonder, the Touareg was enhanced using a 3.0 diesel engine. With the addition of the Power S, it increases the diesel power to 225hp/165Kw.

I know for a fact that when I’m sitting at a desk, on the couch doing a crossword or anywhere else that requires me to use a pen, I scribble. If I had any artistic ability at all I’d be drawing cars though – like these VW fans have done. Some are hand-drawn, some are done on a PC, but the common theme is obviously VW. These are from various websites, but you know what, we’d like to see your VW art.

Vdub Readers Ride: Hamilton’s Hot Mk1

Fellow Kemptonian Hamilton sent us these pics of his ride – and daaaaaamn what a ride! This Mk 1 is a mix of old and new school and it’s rather attractive. It’s riding up on 17″ Classic wheels on 205/40R17 rubber and features a blue/silver paint. He’s fitted Beetle eyelids, a front lip spoiler and crystal headlights. Inside is a full leather interior that compliments the paintwork just right. There’s some ICE in the form of a 4000w XTC amp, a 2400w Targa amp, a flip-down DVD headunit, two 12 ” Sony Xplod subs, a Sony Xplod 6x9s and mids with a Targa equalizer. Under the hood we find a stok 1800cc lump making roughly 80whp.

We like Hamilton’s car, quite a lot in fact. Great going sir!
