Check the Tyres
It’s really important to check the tyres regularly on any vehicle. This is one of those things that we all know about – and yet, too often, we forget to do it! There are a number of things that you should be looking out for when you check your tyres. Firstly, take a look at the pressure and ensure it is correct. If it isn’t, make sure you get it sorted as quickly as possible. This is a common cause of road accidents, so it’s not just about caring for the car. You should also ensure that the tread is not overly worn down. If you are not careful, they could have reached their legal limit.

Keep It Clean
It is just as important to keep your car clean, inside and out. If you want to take extra pride in your VW, you could even hire the use of car detailing services. Keeping your car clean – particularly on the inside – makes it far less likely that anything will go wrong with the engine. And let’s not forget – it also helps keep your car looking beautiful!

Oil & Water
This, again, is a basic requirement that a lot of people either forget about or simply become lazy towards. But you should make sure you are checking your car’s oil and water levels at least once a month. This is particularly true in summer, when your vehicle will use up the oil more quickly. Not keeping the oil or water topped up can lead to all sorts of other problems with your car. So it is best to keep on top of it!

The Engine
If you have a VW with an air-cooled engine – such as in a campervan – then bear the following in mind. Firstly, you should ensure that you keep the underside of the chassis as clean as possible. This stops any unnecessary build-up which could potentially lead to more serious problems. While you are doing this, also keep an eye out for rust. Catching rust early is really important. It is like a disease for your car – it can spread extremely quickly and cause all sorts of problems. So be vigilant, and if you see even a tiny spot of rust get it sorted immediately using a standard rust remover. This is sure to save you an enormous headache in the long run!
