Volkswagen has a range of high performance “R” line up including the Golf R in North America and Scirocco R in Europe.
Lately, the German automaker had confirmed that the new car to receive “R” treatment will be Beetle, and it will be introduced in the US soon. The announcement of the same was made over two years back in August 2011, and the automaker showcased a production-ready Beetle R Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The wait, it seems, will soon be over as it is expected that the Group will soon welcome the new “R” member. Apparently, the VW Beetle R Concept was spotted testing in Germany. The images of the Beetle R concept revealed R-Line bodykit that give it a sportier look in the front and back fascias. Besides, the sides along with the exhausts also features a sporty look.
The added attraction is the traditional five-spoke R wheels of Volkswagen, which definitely makes the Beetle R concept, look better.
Other Beetle R features that you could expect include the upright vents on the back bumper, large front fascia, and huge rear spoiler. However, it is not sure whether the R concept model of the Beetle will have polished wheels, quad-tipped exhausts and a vented hood.
The images of the matte grey Beetle R feature sporty brakes with bright red calipers for extra flair. The new concept car is expected to be powered by 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which will generate 296 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This will be the same as that of the new 2015 VW Golf R that’s coming in soon. Besides, it will have the six-speed manual and all-wheel drive, as VW standard.
The Volkswagen Beetle R concept is projected to hit dealers by the end of 2014. It will, most probably, debut either in Geneva motor show or at the Paris motor show next year. The excitement is just rising high and the market is eager to welcome the Beetle R concept.
