Volkswagen C-Class Sedan Being Developed in China


VW Shanghai, which is a collaboration between Chinese carmakers SAIC and Volkswagen AG, has announced that they will start their luxury auto making task by developing a C-Class sedan for the Chinese market over the next 3 years.

There is currently a gap in the market for a luxury model car in China, and to start the developments Shanghai VW has already sent an engineering and marketing team to Wolfsburg in Germany. It is expected that after the release of this C-Class model in China, Volkswagen will also introduce it to the American, Mexican, African and European markets.

The SAIC Chairman, Hu Maoyuan said, “This luxury sedan will become Shanghai VW’s C-Class flagship.” This company already has an A-class hatchback on the market, but with the maturing market, they are also planning on introducing a Lavida Hatchback sometime in the next 2 years.
