Volkswagen Golf GTD Diesel launching in Europe this summer is now heading to be launched in the US as well with the time of its arrival of this model in the country fixed for 2015 as a 2016 model. As is reported by the Automotive News, the Golf GTD is hitting the North America on the mentioned year with more stress on being a performance-oriented diesel car and a price fixed for about $27,000 USD.
Apart from being the first car from Volkswagen as a performance-oriented diesel car, there are additional impressive characteristics too for the brand to hope for a raise in the sell of the model in the United States. The product manager Andreas Valbuena expects that the account of sell will be about 5 to 10% of diesel Golf sales.
The GTD features a 2.0-litre diesel four-cylinder engine producing 181 horsepower along with a 280 lb-ft of torque, a manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission with six gears, a three- and five-door hatchback and a capacity to deliver up to 0-100 km/h run in approximately seven seconds. The fuel economy of the Golf GTD too is pretty impressive which is estimated to be 4.2 L/100 km. Moreover, the model will be capable of reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides for which the owners will have to fill the urea tank of the car while changing their oil.
