The Volkswagen Polo facelift has been introduced in India. The mid-life hatchback that was first revealed to the world in January this year comes here with updated engines and a modified equipment list.
Besides, the face-lifted VW Polo hatchback will also have visual updates to both the exterior and interior.
The interesting point here about the Indian market launch of the Polo facelift is that the CKD Polo, launched in Malaysia, is assembled in Pekan, Malaysia with the help of knocked down packs from the Chakan plant of Volkswagen located in Pune, India.
This makes it quite probable that Malaysia might also get a similar facelift when the time for an update of the CKD Polo arrives. The CKD Polo hatch was unveiled in Malaysia in January this year, a few months after the launch of the CKD Polo Sedan in October 2013.
Coming back to the Volkswagen Polo facelift, no major change has been updated for this smart supermini. The most obvious change is in the lower bumper, which has become thicker at the edges along with the use of fog lamps on the upper ends. Besides, a chrome strip highlights the lamps as well as the number plate.
Another change is that unlike the two chrome slat in the middle earlier, the grille of the Polo facelift now has just one chrome slat on the underside.
In terms of interiors, you will find a new steering wheel with a slightly flattened bottom. Besides, the car gets silver trim for the center stack.
The Indian market will have three trim lines of the Polo available, including Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline. These are available with diesel or petrol engines. The diesel TDI engine offers 90 PS/230 Nm with five-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 1.2 liter naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder petrol engine offers 75 PS and 110 NM.
