Volkswagen to produce a limited edition Beetle in the USA
Volkswagen of America Inc. have revealed a 2016 limited edition model of the Volkswagen Beetle, it is called the Beetle Convertible Denim Special Edition and only 2,000 units will be produced.
The 2016 Beetle Denim pays tribute to the Beetle Jeans model that was in its heyday in the 1970s. This car is truly committed to being a pair of jeans with an engine as its dark blue soft top is finished with a newly textured fabric that really looks like denim. The car is only available in two exterior colours, these are Pure White and Stonewashed Blue which will equally share the production run.
As the image above suggests, the denim theme does not end on the exterior, the interior design also features a unique light blue and silver dash and seat pockets that are jeans-inspired, with small Beetle flags in red. The seats are light blue denim-coloured and feature white piping and dark blue leatherette accents.
The Volkswagen Beetle Denim comes with a pack of standard features such as the Volkswagen MIB II infotainment system which offers higher resolution, faster processing speeds, and clearer graphics than ever before. There’s also a 5-inch resistive touchscreen display that comes with a host of standard features such as a rear view camera display, AUX-in, SD card slots, and a USB multimedia interface with Bluetooth, iPhone and iPod connectivity.
The Beetle Denim, as its full name suggests (Beetle Convertible 1.8T Denim Special Edition) packs a 1.8-litre turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine that produces 170 ponies (127 kW) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm). Volkswagen of America Inc. have announced that the starting MSRP is $25,995.
