VW DIY Tips: Changing the Air Mass Meter on a VW Sharan – Part 2

The first part of this tutorial covered what the air mass meter does and what you will need to replace it. Here are the rest of the steps:

Step 3:

Once you have located the air mass meter you will need to remove the wires. To unclip them you should squeeze the clips wings inward and pulling upward. Start at the back of the meter by pressing the two clamping ring wings together with your pliers so that the clamp widens and then you can slide the plastic pipe off the end.

Step 4:

Next you will need to clip off the top of the airbox and turn it over to make it easier to get to the 2 8mm allen bolts. The clips are located at the front and back of the airbox and come off easily if you just pull on the bottom of them.

Step 5:

Now you can remove the 2 8mm bolts and separate the air mass meter from the airbox. Remember to take off the large ‘O’ ring to use on the new air mass meter.

In the next segment we will discuss installing a new air mass meter on your Volkswagen Sharan.
